Thoughts

Well hello! I'm getting pretty slack at updating this, but I think it's almost good b/c when I DO update I have SO much to share! :)

I have a few things on my mind today. The first being that I have recently started saying in everything that I do or think, "What Would Jesus Do?" I know that seems sooooo old school, but honestly, dont you think that if we constantly asked ourselves this question in every situation that we would end up being more like Christ? For instance, a homeless man comes to your window and asks for a dollar, "What would Jesus do?" Chances are Jesus would give him FIVE dollars. Or take him somewhere to eat. Also, if a friend is in need of a place to stay and you're skeptical about it, "What would Jesus do?" Jesus would invite his friend in and tell them to stay as long as needed. A friend asks you to do something you know you shouldn't, "What would Jesus do?" WHY HAVE WE FALLEN AWAY FROM THIS?!??! In the Bible it says that we should try to be like Christ, so why are we so opposite???

Gandhi said, "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." This is pretty embarrassing if you ask me, but it's very true. We have fallen away from what we are supposed to be doing!!! I was talking to a friend yesterday and I told her that as I'm laying on my death bed (hopefully decades from now) that I want to not look back and wonder if my house was big enough, if I had enough money, or if I was socially accepted or not; I want to look back and wonder, "Did I live my entire life like Christ would have lived His? Was I the light in someone's darkness? Did I show unconditional love to EVERYONE? Was I kind? Did I share the truth?" I want to lay there in my last moments knowing the Judge is coming towards me with open arms. I want to be able to say with an honest heart that I lived every aspect of my life for God.

We have to remember that Christ is going to return, and the time we have here on Earth is so little compared to the eternity we are promised with Him in Heaven. HE IS COMING BACK FOR US. This is how I think we should think of it. So you are having people coming in from out of town right? Well what is the first thing you do? You make sure that your house is spotless. Then you make sure you have plenty of food for them. You also make sure that you are presentable. Think of Christ returning like you're having a guest come from out of town! We have to prepare!!! We have to tell our friends, our family, our co-workers, strangers, etc. And when you clean your house... a lot of times you are tempted to shove things under your bed, in your closet, or in droors, but if God is your guest... he will see the mess you try to hide from Him. So I want to challenge you to lay your messy life out before God. Ask Him to forgive you. He hasn't turned anyone away yet and He wont. God is waiting for you. He is longing for you.

We have SO much work to do. SOOOO MUCH. Thinking about this makes me want to run around to EVERYONE and tell them that Christ is on His way. The Judge is coming. Prepare yourselves. Open your hearts to Him. Let Him consume your life.

I also came accross another awesome quote. The word "witness" was new to me until a few years ago. I was always told that I needed to be "witnessing" to people about God. The truth is... you don't have to really SAY anything or go out of your way to "witness" to people. The quote is: "To be a 'witness' does not consist in engaging propaganda, nor even in stirring people up, but in being a living mystery. It means to live in such a way that one's life would not make sense if God did not exist." -Cardinal Emmanuel Suhard
It's so true!!! We witness by example. Next time you are tempted to do something you KNOW Jesus would NEVER do... think about those who are lost who are looking to you. I was one of those people. They are looking at you to see if this God you speak of is the truth... if He IS the light, the life, and the way. And when you do things that are NOT acceptable according to God's law... your witness is crap. Your message is Crap. Think about this. Be concious of what you do and say. The world is watching you. We have a job to do... We HAVE to prepare for the return.
